How Metroiron Drapery Medallions Are Mounted: Our Exclusive Two Piece Bracket System

How Do Drapery Medallions Stay in Place?

This is one of the most common questions people have when discovering drapery medallions for the first time.

Unlike traditional curtain tiebacks or wrap around holdbacks, drapery medallions are not meant to loop fabric around the hardware. Instead, they function as a structured mounting point that supports the drape at a fixed position on the wall.

At Metroiron, this is made possible through our exclusive two piece bracket system, designed specifically for drapery medallions.

The Metroiron Two Piece Bracket System Explained

Every Metroiron drapery medallion is supported by a two part mounting system that works together behind the scenes.

The first component is a solid iron rod that extends from the back of the drapery medallion itself. This rod is fixed and aligned to maintain balance and strength.

The second component is the wall mounted bracket. This bracket features an open receiving channel that allows the rod from the medallion to slide directly into place. Once connected, the two pieces form a secure union that holds the drapery exactly where it is intended to rest.

A small tightening mechanism on the bracket allows the installer to lock the medallion into position once the desired placement is achieved.

This system creates a clean visual result with no visible hooks, loops, or fabric wrapping around the hardware.

Why We Do Not Use Wrap Around Tiebacks

Traditional tiebacks and holdbacks rely on wrapping fabric around the hardware, which can distort the drape, interrupt the fold structure, and create visual clutter.

Metroiron drapery medallions are designed to support the drape naturally. The fabric rests against the face of the medallion, allowing gravity and weight to create elegant folds and controlled swags without forcing the material into an unnatural position.

This approach offers a more architectural and intentional look, especially in formal spaces, layered window treatments, and custom installations.

Adjustable Projection for Different Drapery Needs

Not all drapes are the same, and wall projection matters.

Metroiron offers multiple mounting options to accommodate different fabric weights, fullness levels, and installation styles.

Standard Wall Mount
Provides approximately 3 to 5 inches of projection from the wall. Ideal for most standard curtain panels and residential installations.

Extended Wall Mount
Provides approximately 5 to 7 inches of projection. Recommended for heavier drapes, layered treatments, or situations where additional clearance is required. This option is available for an additional cost per bracket.

Cornice Mount
Designed for applications where medallions are mounted beneath cornices or valances, allowing the hardware to integrate seamlessly into architectural window treatments.

These options ensure thatthe drapery sits correctly without being compressed against the wall or pushed too far into the room.

Designed for Strength, Balance, and Longevity

Because the mounting system carries the full weight of the drapery, material quality is critical.

Metroiron brackets and rods are constructed from solid iron and finished by hand. This ensures consistent strength, reliable performance, and long term durability even with heavier fabrics or frequent use.

Once installed, the system remains stable, allowing drapery to be adjusted or refreshed without compromising the mount.

A Clean Finish That Lets the Design Speak

The goal of the Metroiron mounting system is simple. Let the medallion and the fabric be the focal point.

By eliminating visible hooks, wrap around hardware, and unnecessary components, the window treatment maintains a refined and intentional appearance.

This system is especially effective in custom interiors, coastal homes, formal living spaces, and any setting where drapery hardware is meant to feel permanent rather than temporary.
